Trails are at the heart of 2026 celebrations in Balsall Heath and a wonderful way to experience our streets. The Balsall Heath Local History Society has been deep in the archives, uncovering fascinating stories of Balsall Heathans and Balsall Heath. Working with local partners, we have produced a series of historical interpretation panels that will be installed across Balsall Heath in 2026.
Believe in Balsall Heath
Interpretation panels, part of Believe in Balsall Heath (Cultural Action Area) to promote and celebrate Balsall Heath and Balsall Heathans, together a series of activities including the relaunch of the Balsall Heathan and Balsall Heath Community Festival, July 3rd to 13th. Balsall Heath Local History Society have explored the history of the area, and working with local partners, prepared historical ‘interpretation panels’ to be installed across Balsall Heath.
Balsall Heath in Changing Times
This is also feeding into a wider historical map of our local area. A unique map, it is richly illustrated with the incredible documentary photography of Mick Turner, alongside countless treasured images preserved by volunteers in the Balsall Heath Local History Archives.
Balsall Heath Community Festival
Balsall Heath is getting ready for a summer of celebration as the Believe in Balsall Heath (Cultural Action Area) launches a spectacular series of events. Running from July 3rd to 13th, the festivities kick off with the highly anticipated return of the Balsall Heath Community Festival alongside the official relaunch of The Balsall Heathan—our community’s very own online news and storytelling platform. Together, these events shine a brilliant spotlight on the unique spirit, diverse heritage, and incredible people who make Balsall Heath so special.
Our Living History
