There’s another opportunity to see Balsall Heath Local History Society (BHLHS) exhibition, Balsall Heath in Changing Times in The MIX Cafe at Second Saturday 14th November. We’ll be with the newly opened SHOF serving delicious Syrian food including falafels, healthy salads, fresh pastries and refreshing drinks as well as the opportunity to have treasures fixed by our Repair Cafe.
Through Believe in Balsall Heath, the Balsall Heath Local History Society (BHLHS) has brought nine historic interpretation panels to life across our as part of our Heritage Trail. From the greenery of Calthorpe Park to historic landmarks like Brighton Road Station, and Ladypool Lane, these boards pair our archival photographs, photography of Mick Turner, and local oral histories accessible via QR code at the heritage trail locations.
Now, we’re ready to expand the trail—and we need your help to add brand-new locations!

Why We Need Your Input
Every corner of Balsall Heath has a story to tell, whether it’s a long-lost community hub, a locus of local activism, or a place where generations of residents have gathered. We want these next locations to reflect the places and hidden histories that matter most to you.

- Which local landmark or street corner deserves an interpretation board?
- Do you have personal memories, photos, or family stories connected to a place in Balsall Heath?
- Is there a piece of underrepresented local history you want future generations to discover?

How You Can Get Involved
Help us shape the future of the Balsall Heath Heritage Trail by taking part:
- Send us your suggestions for the two new heritage trail stops. Tell us where they should be and why they hold history worth sharing!
- If you have historic photos, personal anecdotes, or archive material relating to potential sites, we’d love to feature them.
- Come along to the next Second Saturday at The Old Print Works to chat with the team.
